Leading ABHYUTSAHA: Breaking Barriers, Empowering Women in Engineering at
MKSSS’s Cummins College of Engineering For Women, Pune.
Objective:
To establish and lead a pioneering (umbrella) team of women engineers leading innovative projects across critical domains—Sky, Land, and Water. The goal was to break societal barriers, demonstrate women’s leadership in technical fields, and position our all-women engineering college as a leader in multi-disciplinary engineering through collaborative, student-led initiatives.
Summary:
Initiated and led ABHYUTSAHA, a groundbreaking program aimed at demonstrating women’s capabilities in engineering leadership. This initiative encompassed three specialized teams—Vinidra (Sky), Suryaksh (Land), and Ojas (Water)—each focused on a unique domain of engineering. The program brought together 80+ students from 5 engineering streams to deliver high-impact projects under a unified vision. ABHYUTSAHA served as a platform for female-driven engineering innovation in the Three Elements.
ABHYUTSAHA served as a program that encompassed three distinct projects, allowing for comprehensive management and oversight of diverse engineering initiatives
My Role: Founder & Program Manager (Main Head of the Program, Visionary)
I led the successful formation of the three teams—Vinidra, Suryaksh, and Ojas—which collectively involved over 80+ students. By aligning the teams' efforts with the initiative's vision, I ensured the successful laying of the foundation for ongoing projects despite challenges related to resource management and coordination. This involved not only conceptualizing the distinct objectives and domains for each team but also establishing a cohesive framework that allowed for effective collaboration and resource sharing Additionally, I guided the recruitment of diverse talent and oversaw the development of 3 distinct projects over a span of 2 years.
Team Structure:
This team structure outlines the overall framework of ABHYUTSAHA and the individual teams (projects) operating under its umbrella. Each project had a distinct team structure tailored to its specific requirements and objectives. (Note - Highlighted only major leadership roles of 3 sub teams, central leadership roles are not mentioned)
